YouTube Loves Me

I've found the most incredible channel on YouTube! It's the personal tutorial channel of the Korean makeup artist Jung Saem Mool. She's worked with all the top Korean stars like BoA and Kim Tae Hee. I love Korean makeup because of its emphasis on clear, glowing, flawless skin. It's a very clean, fresh look and I wanted to share it with all of you. :o) Here's just one example of her videos of "macabre" makeup.

I've started my own YouTube channel for the blog. Now, you guys can go and visit my favourite vloggers on hair, makeup, skincare, and fashion. Jung Saem Mool is definitely one of them!

Et Dieu Créa la Bardot

There's a really cool exhibition going on in London at James Hyman in Picadilly. It's free, and it lasts until 3 October, so this Saturday is the last day.
Bardot turned 75 on 28th September 2009, and so the James Hyman Gallery has created a free exhibition of 75 vintage paparazzi photographs of the icon. I'm going to love this! :o)

Trussardi Spring 2010 RTW

I have a new favorite designer! To be honest, a lot of the shows in Milan have left me a bit uninspired, but Trussardi has a really cool, relaxed and subtly sexy style that I can definitely get in line for. Reminds me of Garconne style, which I think is the closest word in the fashion lexicon to describe my look. This is my favorite collection so far of Fashion Month... yay!!!!

D&G Spring 2010 RTW

The Italians have done it again... Dolce and Gabanna have just reiterated to me how much they and their countrymen love the American West. My family are cowboys traditionally, so I guess I never really thought of our clothing as the cutting edge of style... :P but I am reconsidering... !

If you take a look at the photos below from style.com, some of the details I love include the corseted detailing, flirty little hems and huuuuuuge boots. And, I love the different combinations of brown on brown! Can you see where they mix eyelet fabrics, Micky Mouse tees, leather and denim? The only thing I'd edit in this collection would be the suit pieces, even though the oversized jackets and drop crotch cropped pants are current, and therefore commercial.

I'm still trying to figure out how they kept the whole thing from looking costumey. Maybe the sunglasses and attitude? These are badass cowgirls man. I guess I am too though, technically ;o)

Jasper Garvida Spring 2010 RTW

"The fashion industry shapes how we represent ourselves to the world." -- Charlotte Cassedanne

I knew about Jasper Garvida from Project Catwalk, so when the girls at Miele contacted me to cover one of his shows, I was very excited! I went along to the On/Off, event and I had such an incredible time! The thing I love about London Fashion is there are so many up and coming designers that are really edgy and unknown. Jasper's already pretty well known, but I still feel like I was right there at the beginning of something incredible happening.

Here's how the day went...

My friend Charlotte and I arrived wearing our original Carol Gould pieces and met the amazing women at Miele, Lauren and Cherry. (oh and we saw Erin O'Connor being snapped by the paps on our way inside)

We all went in and had a drink and a tour of the showroom. I met the other invited bloggers like Shini from Park & Cube and Kit from StyleSlicker.

These girls are smart, funny, and organized. They came with their cameras, notepads, outfits and business cards. I learned a lot from these girls. Check out Shini's shoezzz (left, from Topshop) :P

We stood up front for the show, and I must say I was very very impressed. Jasper's collection was inspired by the painters Picasso and Velasquez, and so you really got the tribal art and ethnic feel from the Picasso, as well as the frilly dresses from Velasquez. The girls reminded me of birds of paradise! Here are some of my favorite looks (The best fashion pics are always when you walk up to the model and snap her pic)

Garvida also incorporated loads of 1930s detailing in the clothes, like these delicate headbands.

I got to interview Jasper afterwards, and he was intelligent and sweet. He took the time to explain his vision in detail, and even took a pic with me!

I deemed the show a 100% success, and Carole's jewelry pieces attracted lots of wonderful attention! I sported a necklace made of the cast of a chicken foot, and my +1, Charlotte wore a handmade duck neckpiece from a bird that was run down by a car.

The jewelry was completely in line with the theme these days, because after lunch we visited the ON/OFF showroom and chatted with talented, local London designers who rework recycled materials -- it's really the only way forward. I even met a designer who went to a fancy dress party as roadkill, it's the future people! I'll post more information on the exciting and interesting people I met as I work through the press releases and websites.

Pop over to Jasper's ForeverBetter/Miele website for more info on his collection and brand. Wow, I really am inspired now! More to come ... MUCH MORE. :o)
