Threeasfour Spring 2010 RTW

This collection had such a cool idea... it was inspired by Yoko Ono's artistic work, and so there was loads of collaboration between her and the brand's designers Angela Donhauser, Adi Gil and Gabriel Asfour. The collaborations included music, design and live art. The music came from Ono's upcoming album from the Plastic Ono Band and was produced by Yoko's son, Sean Lennon. The designers used Yoko Ono's dot drawings as inspiration within the collection. Also, the models recreated one of Yoko Ono's most famous live art pieces, which was called Cut Piece. In it, the models each cut away at one woman's dress until she was clothed only in her underwear.

Even without the collaboration and the inspiration from Ono, however, Threeasfour's clothes stand on their own. I usually try and think of what would be functional and what could come straight off the catwalk to become incredible clothing for real women, but I just couldn't deny these conceptual pieces. Look and you'll see what I mean... (and don't forget the shoes! :oP)

Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman blows my mind every season, and Spring 2010 is no exception. These dresses are spectacular.

Proenza Schouler Spring 2010 RTW

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez put on a really fun show. It looks like the models were wiped with blue and green wax paper then sent out on the runway. And the neon cutout heels killed me! The idea of the collection reminds me of a bog or a marsh, something wet and warm. Jump in :P

Temperley London Spring 2010 RTW

Temperley did an incredible job of opening the show with conceptual pieces that set the mood, and then about halfway through, really translating those ideas into beautiful clothes we'd clamour to wear. I think it was also quite clever how Alice Temperley stayed current, incorporating studs, blazers and phat shoes into the mix. Something tells me the Big Top is where we'll all want to be come Spring 2010.

Halston Spring 2010 RTW

Halston is one of my favorite designers because of the ease with which you can wear the designs, as well as the femininity you feel when you put on their dresses. I just wish they could produce this season's clothes in different fabrics (I loved the floaty red chiffon and the matte white) instead of metallics, which I'm a little weary of. But, anyways, here are some stars of the season...

Vivienne Tam Spring 2010 RTW

Vivienne Tam drew this collection's inspiration from butterflies and the 70s. The air on the runway teemed with floating fabrics, bright colours, and beautiful ideas. I would wear any of these garments, and I would dress my clients in them as well, for occasions like dinner and weekends. Some details that I didn't completely understand included the suede fringed bags and belts; I felt at times that they detracted from the movement and look of the clothes. I would have let the flowy fabrics and bright colours stand alone and speak for themselves. All in all, however, this collection was a smash hit for me.
