SEE, I AM DOING A NEW THING!

I'm transitioning between two jobs and have a week off in between next week. Just the time to do all the things you put aside when you're workin' hard, right? So lots of errands and jobs around the house. I'm also going to work out loads (promise...), all three of which I WON'T bore you with. No selfies with my lunch either. Dignity.

The good news for Lola Re is I am also randomly quite busy OUTside my house - my dance card is full, y'all! Today marks the 1 week countdown to Diapsora Hair's first hair show - Curlvolution - on Saturday 24th May in Canary Wharf, and before that I've got the Chelsea Flower Show, an alumni event, a handful of lunches, an afternoon of vintage shopping and a brave attempt to kit out my balcony with plantlife.

This array of personal, social and business engagements says to ME that I should do a spring lookbook over the week including all my outfits. So maybe SOME selfies, but of my clothes not randomness. Here we go!

UP AND AT 'EM

Here's what I wore one day.

And for today's movie we have Divorce, Italian Style (Divorzio all'Italiana). This guy is unhappily married, and in love with another woman. BUT, it's traditional Italy and they are good Catholics - they can't split up. So, he decides he's got to kill his wife. The thing is..... it's HILLARIOUS. A "black comedy" they call it. In this video, he's at the beach with his wife and her parents, when he runs into the girl he's infatuated with. Have a look-see. 

HOW WILL I KNOW IF IT'S WORKING?

Very quickly done FOTD from last weekend. Recently I quite like wearing stuff I'm not sure works. Open toed clogs and tights? 70s prairie dress to a post-Christmas Christmas party? Something to amuse myself thinking about. (Sorry about the white balance! I got GIMP and I'm working on it, I swear.)

Randomly reminds me a lot of This dress from Ida Sjöstedt A/W 11. I'm on trend baby yeah.

THE AFTERNOON OF EXTRAVAGANT DELIGHT

After editing these What I Wore photos, I realised, I am really just giving an impression of what I wore and how I felt that day, rather than an actual representation of what the clothes were, what they cost, and what labels are inside them. I think it's better this way, no? It's more like the editorials which inspired me to write about fashion in the first place.

First post of 2011, get in! I'm experimenting with different photographic finishes, so this is my latest Photo of the Day. 

I would love it if my images had the same finish as the famous Spitting Scene from Seinfeld. (the a clip below shows what I mean, but if you want to see the whole thing click here). It's basically a spoof on the controversy surrounding the Kennedy assassination. 

Speaking of the Kennedy's, today's title comes from a passage in the book Couples by John Updike, which is set during the early 60s in a little Massachusetts town about an hour south of Boston. I lived just outside Boston when I first started writing this blog, so the book makes me homesick for the salty studio where I lived next to the ocean, and going into the city full of professors, crazed sports fans, geese, crayfish and lobster salads, thousands of students, and women with bobbed hair, cardigans and pearls. I'd fight through 10 inches of January snow to go to work at the university, then volunteer in Cambridge, then bask in the glow of Trader Joe's for dinner. What a gorgeous city.

After two years of blogging, I've finally figured out how to use my automatic timer.

Almost. A tiny bit blurry, but definitely better than before. 

I've been wearing lots of stripes lately because they're classic and they go with everything (especially at 6 in the morning when I'm getting dressed). I bought my necklace from a mystery jewellery bag at Brighton Fashion Week.

It's that time of year again when I take a critical eye to my closet - Burnout Season. I get really excited, passionate about an idea, a look, a style, then I start thinking... this is dumb. I'm really bored with the whole peasant, boho, flowery dresses, fringe everywhere s...tunt. 

I don't know what I'm going to do next -- something with cleaner lines, bolder colours and a new vibe. Something more striking. Bright lips, crisp fabrics, statement jewelry, a new perspective.
