With so many amazing designers losing backers or going bust (most-missed include Peter Som & Christian Lacroix), I'm left pining for some of my favorites. This Jovovich-Hawk Elisa top from Summer 08 is a case-en-point.
One of my favorite designers has updated her lookbook for fall, and I already love some pieces. Kim Ovitz has a handle on laid back, simplistic chic like no designer I've seen.
Can you imagine these with some Elizabeth and James jewelry?
I DON'T MEAN TO WRITE IN ALL CAPITALS, I'M JUST VERY VERY EXCITED. Lol. People, we have two upcoming films concerning fashion that I'm stoked about.
1. VALENTINO: THE LAST EMPEROR
This film is out now in selected cities, and it's supposed to be phenomenal. Valentino has received rave reviews and awards at the Venice, Toronto and Chicago Film Festivals. The film takes a look at the personality and the art of Valentino, as well as how he copes with the changes in fashion, the times and his legacy. For more information, visit the Valentino Movie Vebsite . And of course, see the trailer below.
2. THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE
Another gorgeous documentary on a fashion icon, this time it's Anna Wintour and her ascention to dominating at Vogue. Partly inspired by the success of The Devil Wears Prada, undoubtedly. And it comes out in ... September :oP
Now, let me just figure out what's going on with the Chanel film... These things always come in threes, you know...
There's no way I could go off on a tangent about wearable, real-life fashion fantasies without including Annie Hall. Besides being my favorite Woody Allen film, Diane Keaton is dressed impeccably by Ralph Lauren in clothes that multitask like no one's business. Note the easy tailoring, soft hair and barely-there makeup.
I love to keep style honest. Because I work, I am always thinking: how can one look chic and together without looking stuffy? How can you look fresh and still be taken seriously? So far, the answers I've come up with include modern Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, and pots and pots of young french chic. These photos, taken from Nast are a good example. One of the easiest ways to update your look is a bright colour. The soft hair and fresh skin are a staple too.
