EMBRACE THE BOOM
I was having a conversation with my sister Neva yesterday about the periods in fashion that inspire me. Of course, these include the 60s and the 90s... And the cultures that inspire me... which include Korean, Japanese and Scandinavian. Now, all these cultures and periods of time seem to be dominated by a waifish, girlish aesthetic that, while I can appreciate, I do not share! As various men on the London streets like to remind me, I am a curvy girl. Unfortunately that isn't what I WANT to look like. Neva, who is wise beyond her years said to me... 'Lola, you're just going to have to embrace all that BOOM you have.'
So here goes. I haven't really taken a look at the shows from Fashion Month (or as I like to call them, the Holy Holidays) because I wanted to look at them with an eye for what I wanted out of this season. What's my direction? What do I want to express?? Well, this season I'm going to try a little experiment. What would happen if I tried to combine the healthy bodies of the 50s with the aesthetic and mood of the 60s? Would that even WORK? I figure Spring/Summer 2010 is the perfect time to find out...

That sounds like a very interesting idea, can't wait to see what you're going to come up with, Lola Re. :)
sure - it would work - especially
the 60's [which happens to be my
favorite] nothing was too tight.
luvin' the hippie look to this day.
after that period I admire the
film noir femme fatales.
Skinny ain't sexy! I just saw our photos and you are curvy and I mean it in a very good way! :-)
..coz I'm curvy too.
Honestly, you look great just as you are. Gotta laugh at the phrase "all that BOOM" though. :-)
